There's Change in the Air: Your Image on the Move
Is "it" the cycle of the moon? The shifting political winds? Your inexplicable lack of desire to get out of bed in the morning? Or, your insatiable need to learn, improve and achieve? Whether "it's" a move up, over or out, change is in the air. 'Tis the season. Preparing your image to take you into your future will be time and energy well-spent.
Let's see what we can do to help prepare you for the exciting adventure that lies ahead...
1. Resume/CV/Bio: You've got them, right? Good. Now, moving right along...
2. Your Hard Core Skills: Make a list. (By the way, I love lists.) This is the time to get REALLY real. No pretty words. No fancy industry-limiting lingo. What can you do? I mean REALLY do. What can you do better than anyone else on the planet? Fry an egg? Good. Put it on your list. You're now a civil engineer who can fry a mean egg. There's a market for that somewhere. We'll worry about that later...
3. Your Loves and Passions: Yes, another list. No, not the unrequited loving crush you had in the third grade. These are the activities that you absolutely love to do - paid or unpaid. You may call them hobbies or volunteer efforts. Call them what you will. What you know is: a) you look forward to these activities, b) they make you feel creative, challenged and productive, and c) the clocks just stop. You would trade your day job for this, if you could figure out how to get paid for it.
It is an indisputable fact that when you bring your passions and your talents to your work, you experience a new level of satisfaction and you make a contribution simply by being who you are. It doesn't get better than that.
With truly unlimited opportunity at our fingertips, we are doing so much more with our lives than generations past. So, today you own a gallery and preside as a congregational minister. And, I understand that before this you were a teacher, sold insurance, and wrote a number of very successful travel books. Amazingly, you are no longer terribly unusual, nor are you considered unemployable.
Can you see it? By simply connecting our minds and our hearts to our daily activities, we very naturally find ourselves infinitely excited by the possibilities that come with each new day.
Tune in to our Audio Tips for May where we will continue to explore the opportunities ahead with your Image on the Move.
Go ahead. Break out. Be your very best YOU!
